NUDAGE ’11
NUDAGE ‘11 was an INTERNATIONAL DESIGN MEETING, sponsored by the Government of Cantabria & CantabriaInfinita, where we brought together over 40 young designer (photography, fashion-, interior and industrial design) who worked together during one week and exposed their art in the Central Library of Cantabria, in Santander.

My role was the one of the GENERAL CO-ORDINATOR, and my task was to align everybody, from artists and politicians to workers, to achieve that the whole event would be possible and above all, it would be a success.
HOW IT STARTED
Context
We were a bunch of 9 young creatives with the wish of bringing together artists, to know each other, get connected and help growing their network worldwide.
Intense brainstorming sessions led us to the initial idea for NUDAGE, a platform where talented individuals from around the world can come together and showcase their skills.
NUDAGE´11 was a huge project and had a couple of key points that needed to be carefully organized to ensure the success of the project.
First of all, we needed a cool PLACE to house the event and FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
To achieve this, I prepared an exhaustive technical report about our project to present our ideas to our stakeholders, who in this case were the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Government of Cantabria.
A cool PLACE, suitable and worthy to house all that fantastic art
The Central Library of Cantabria, in Santander, with its history of being the old warehouse of a tobacco company turned into a library and above all its huge entrance hall, was one of our favorite places.
The Government allowed us to use the Library for NUDAGE’11, so we went there to take a closer look, meassure and decide, how we could distribute incoming art over the place.
At that time the building already was housing a big exposition “Colección Norte” and its hall was filled with big panels for showing art paintings.
We would have to build our idea around this scenario, because it was impossible to take them away. We decided to do some rearrangements of the panels and added some new elements to adapt the place to our needs:

Next step was to ask the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport for financial support for our project. To make them visualize, how this event could look like in a future, I made a collage out from real images, sketches and digital drawing to simulate our ideas:

As press is essenctial for politicians, we also defined some new elements to make welcoming speeches on the opening ceremony possible : )

It seems that my presentation convinced, as we got the needed amount of money to make NUDAGE’11 possible!!
COLLABORATING brands & companies
We knocked on each single door, to beg for help, and all of them supported us in some way.
Even counting with a great sponsorship…fact is, that without all the brands and companies who supported us in form of collaborations, (hotels, printing, restaurants, make-up, styling…) NUDAGE’11 would just have been half of what it finally was, so thank you!
And of course, we needed ALL the CREATIVES around the world to know about our proposal, awakening in them the desire to participate.
We started sending an intense mailing to all young talented souls around the world, and their answer, sending us their proposals was overwhelming!!
A committee of experts, chaired by Francisco Javier López Marcano, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports for Cantabria, made up of renowned personalities from the four areas presented at NUDAGE’11 (photography, fashion-, interior and industrial design), selected the 42 finalists.
They were from Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Germany, India, Iceland, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom and United States and it was a pleassure to have them in our city.
THE FINAL RESULT
The Central Library of Cantabria (in Santander) opened its doors to house NUDAGE from the 24th – 29th of January 2011.
Over 40 selected young designer (photography, fashion-, interior and industrial design) from ALL OVER THE WORLD came together during that week, working hand by hand and exposing their work.
The inauguration was presided over by Íñigo de la Serna, the Mayor of Santander and Francisco Javier López Marcano, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports for Cantabria, attracting thousands of spectators.
The whole event exceeded our expectations, not only because of the 10,000 people who attended throughout that week, but also because of the bonds it has created among the 42 designers who participated in the event.
